Bloomsbury sessions

The Bloomsbury Sessions, originally ‘The YouTube Sessions’, has a unique place in our society’s calendar of yearly events. Though elements of the format have evolved since its initial inception, the core aim of the Sessions has remained unchanged since 2015 - to record and release our members’ original music!

Starting off as a series of live recordings, filmed and tracked on location at UCL, and achieving Union award-winning recognition in 2016/17, The Bloomsbury Sessions were fortunate enough to briefly move to the world-famous Dean St Studios in 2017/18, taking on a greater number of artists than ever before. In 2018/19, the Sessions have radically changed - swapping live performances for full studio recordings, in favour of the full production possibilities afforded by creating a formal album. Featuring seven separate UCL artists, with a range of genres from Jazz Fusion, through piano driven Singer-Songwriting and Alt Rock, to Pop, the album represents the best elements of UCL’s incredible and diverse musical talents. Check it out now on all major streaming platforms!

In memory of where the Sessions have come from, we’ve released a live studio video of the album’s bonus track - recorded by this year’s Battle of The Bands winners, “Bandra Hursel”, which you can watch here!

Unfortunately we were unable to run the sessions in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic, but we hope to return to running them in 2022!
